How It Works
Vpass is pleased to provide you with access to Teladoc, a national network of board certified physicians providing cross coverage consultations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Teladoc physicians use electronic health records (EHRs) and telephone consultations to diagnose, recommend treatment and write short-term non DEA controlled prescriptions, when appropriate. Teladoc does not replace the existing primary care physician relationship but instead enhances it with an efficient, cost-effective alternative for minor medical problems.

Instructions
It's easy to start accessing your discounts.

  • Join the Vpass Teladoc Program.
  • Go to www.Teladoc.com and click Account Set Up.
  • Enter your legal first name, last name, date of birth and the group code listed on your ID card. After all have been entered, click Set Up Account Now.
  • Complete all required fields on the Account Set Up page. Under Login Information you may keep your generated username/member ID or you may change it at that time.
  • After you read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, signify your acceptance by entering your eSignature and then click Submit.
  • Complete your medical history disclosure (MHD) under the Health Records section.

If you do not have access to a computer, please call 1.800.number listed on your ID for assistance.

    Completing Your Medical History Disclosure (MHD): 

    Members must complete a Teladoc medical history disclosure (MHD) prior to requesting a consult.
    If you were unable to complete your medical history disclosure at the time of account set up, please use one of the following options:

    a. Online: Logon to your account at www.Teladoc.com, enter your username and password, then click Health Records located in the top bar of the screen.

    b. Call Center: You may call 1.800.number listed on your ID card and a representative will record your medical history over the telephone. There is a $12 charge associated with selecting this option.

A credit card, debit card or electronic check is required for payment.

Terms of Use

ID valid for two (2) weeks from date printed. You may print a new one as often as needed while Teladoc membership is active. THIS IS NOT INSURANCE. THIS IS A DISCOUNT PLAN.

Teledoc FAQ

  1. Does Teladoc replace my physician?
    No. Teladoc physicians do not replace your primary care physician.

  2. Is the consult fee the same price, regardless of the time of day or night?
    Yes! Teladoc charges one flat rate, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  3. How do I request a consultation to talk with a physician?
    After enrolling as a member, logon to your account at www.Teladoc.com and request a consult. You can also call 1.800.Teladoc any time day or night and a representative will request your medical consult.

  4. How quickly can I talk to the physician?
    Our average call back time is usually less than thirty minutes, but all calls are guaranteed within three hours or the consult is free. Note: If a member misses the call from the consulting physician (away from phone or anonymous call blocker is on), he is returned to the waiting list and his three hour guaranteed time period starts over. After three missed calls, the consult request is cancelled.

  5. How may I provide my electronic health record (EHR) to my primary care physician?

  6. Can you provide services related to psychiatric or dental care needs?
    No. At this time, Teladoc is providing medical care related to routine medical issues only.

  7. If I call Teladoc and the recommendation is that I see my primary care physician or a specialist, do I still have to pay the consult fee?
    Yes. Just like any doctor appointment, you must pay for the consulting physician’s time.

  8. How can I pay for the consult?
    You may pay with a credit card, debit card or checking account.

  9. How can I obtain a receipt for my consultation to submit for reimbursement (Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account) with my company?
    You can access your account online and print a copy of the insurance claim form, or you can call 1.800.Teladoc and request the insurance form be mailed or faxed to you.

Teladoc Pediatric FAQ

  1. Will the Teladoc pediatric network replace my child/minor’s pediatrician?
    No, Teladoc does not replace the pediatrician or primary care physician for any member regardless of age. Teladoc provides cross coverage consultations when your physician is not available.

  2. What ages will be covered by the pediatric network?
    The Teladoc pediatric network will service all members up to 18 years of age.

  3. Who are the physicians in the network?
    Board certified state licensed pediatricians, primary care and urgent care physicians.

  4. What services does the pediatric network provide for my child/minor?
    Teladoc physicians recommend treatment, diagnose and prescribe short term non Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) controlled medication, when appropriate. Teladoc may treat minor conditions such as: flu, colds, respiratory infections, pink eye and allergies.

  5. Is there a different medical history disclosure (MHD) form for children?
    Yes. A pediatric MHD must be completed for all children less than 7 years of age.

  6. How is a consultation requested?
    Consultations may be requested after the medical history disclosure (MHD) is completed. Parents, guardians or authorized consenters may request the consultation by calling 1.800.Teladoc (835.2362) or by going online at www.Teladoc.com and logging in to their account.

  7. Who may request the consultation for a child?
    The parent, guardian or authorized consenter must request a consultation on behalf of the child/ minor. Dependents under the age of 18 years may not request a consultation directly.

  8. What is an authorized consenter?
    An authorized consenter is an individual the parent or guardian has previously assigned to speak with the physician, on the child’s behalf, in the parents’ or guardians’ absence. The authorized consenter must be appointed by the parent or guardian prior to any consultation.

  9. How is an authorized consenter assigned?
    Authorized consenters may be assigned by logging in to your account at www.Teladoc.com and clicking ‘Account Information’ and completing the Add New Consenter section or by calling 1.800.Teladoc (835.2362). The first name, last name, date of birth, email address and last 4 digits of their social security number are required.

  10. Will the child interact or speak to the physician directly?
    The level of child involvement is at the discretion of the physician; however, the child must be present during the consultations. In all cases, the physician will speak directly with the parent, guardian or approved consenter.

  11. What has Teladoc put into place to ensure the medical safety of children?
    Teladoc maintains a gold standard of service through quality assurance programs for all consultations, regardless of age. This includes the pediatric network utilizing the Barton D. Schmitt, Pediatric Telephone Protocols, recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

  12. Will Teladoc send the consultation results to the pediatrician or primary care physician?
    Due to federal HIPAA guidelines, the parent or guardian must authorize Teladoc to submit any medical information to the pediatrician or primary care physician.

Disclosures
a. The discount medical card program is NOT health insurance.
b. The plan provides discounts at certain health care providers for medical services.
c. The plan does not make payments directly to the providers of medical services.
d. The range of discounts for medical or ancillary services provided under the plan will vary depending on the type of provider and medical or ancillary services received.
e. The plan member is obligated to pay for all health care services but will receive a discount from those health care providers who have contracted with VantageAmerica Solutions, Inc., a discount medical plan organization.

ATTENTION MARYLAND RESIDENTS
Some discounts under the Physician and Hospital Referral Plan benefit are not applicable in Maryland. Discounts are not available for all In-Patient Procedures and certain Out-Patient Procedures under Maryland law. Out-Patient Procedures at network hospitals such as laboratory and diagnostics services are eligible for the discount.
